Admission to different courses (B.Tech/MCA) of the University(BPUT) shall be based on criteria decided by the Academic Council of the University(BPUT). There shall be provision for direct admission for a limited number of NRI/FN students. Details of criteria shall be as per provisions in the rule formulated for the purpose. The University(BPUT) shall adopt the eligibility criteria as specified by AICTE/ UGC .
Admissions shall ordinarily close before a specified period from the date of commencement of the first semester instruction, through a notification.

Lateral Entry: Students those who have cleared diploma with minimum 60% mark in the corresponding subject are eligible for this scheme. They are enrolled directly into the 3rd semester engineering courses.
It is mandatory for all candidates to appear in the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by Biju Patnaik University Technology, Rourkela or All India Engineering Entrance Examination(AIEEE) conducted by CBSE, Ministry of HRD, New Delhi or Joint Entrance Examination conducted by Orissa Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) to get a seat either through counseling or management quota.
